Recording a Live Concert for a Podcast

We have been recording and mixing live shows for over 45 years for live broadcasting and live television shows.

Podcasting is derived directly from syndicated radio with the single exception of it being delivered ‘On Demand’ instead of over terrestrial radio. The requirements and expectations are the same – it is a Show. Professionally recorded/produced, and something special for the listening audience. This describes our approach to live production.

In order to deliver amazing live recordings in all their digital splendor, we only work with original compositions. We record the entire concert – but the only music we share with our audience are original compositions for which the artist grants us full permission to usel

This gives us a strategic advantage over any other podcast. We don’t feature any commercially-produced music. We don’t use excerpts from songs composed by others. We ONLY feature original music from our artists for which we are granted permission directly by the composer/owner of the music.

The performances we typically document contain extended versions of songs where the musicians can really stretch out their solos. They aren’t constrained backing up other artists, or otherwise limited to what they can play. It is not unusual for a song to be 10, 12, even 15 minutes or longer. That is a major difference between a typical concert tour and a one-off date at a club. We want to be there to document the one-night experience at the venue with a live audience.

We enable your music to live on well past the live performance. We enable your fanbase to enjoy the music from anywhere on the planet – not just those in the club.

Our recordings are top-notch having provided hundreds of shows for the likes of King Biscuit Flower Hour, Westwood One, BBC Rock Hour, Rock Over London, House of Blues, and many many more. We bring that level of quality and expectation to every show we record – from a soloist at the most intimate venues, up to major festivals and live television at the very largest venues in the world.

Only now we can feature your music for your fans. We cover the live recording production process, and the post production mixing/editing as well. We provide all the web services, on-demand podcast services as well as the website containing all the artist bios and promotional material to further inform your fans of your website and more.

An appearance on Prime Event has now taken the place of an appearance on the King Biscuit Flower Hour or Westwood One. Only we promote and educate the listener all about the musicians and the venue. Nobody else does it in quite the same way – because they can’t!

We record your entire show along with the live audience. This gives us a perfect record of the live event and the audience response. Many people release live CDs of their shows because of the quality of our live recordings. This unique experience allows you to document your show for no cost. That is our investment into the project.

After that, we produce the Podcast and make it available on a weekly basis from our website to our subscribers and through our affiliates. Your fresh music gets out to your fans, and to our listeners. It’s a fantastic way to put musical excellence directly into the ears of true music fans at their convenience. It also promotes every single musician on the gig with links to everyone’s website or social media site.

Do not ever settle for a lousy board mix or a cellphone recording. Give your music the respect it deserves. We do. Deliver the excitement, the quality, the experience your fans deserve and respect.

Recording/documenting the live show is the first step. After that we can talk about a live broadcast, or multi-cam video production if you are interested. But Step #1 is: record all the audio in pristine multi-track.

You can see some of the musicians we have worked with at insidejazz.com/musicians and at timpinchrecording.com/credits. These are just partial listings – but they should include your music.

I look forward to meeting you backstage!
